When you need to split players into pairs fast with no accumulated rating — a backyard tournament, a corporate cup, an in-club championship — a random draw is the fairest option.
HoneyCup uses the Fisher-Yates shuffle: the player list is permuted so that every pairing is equally likely. No "hidden seeding" — the randomness is genuinely random.
A single-elimination bracket for 8 players gives 7 matches across 3 rounds. Semifinalists are decided by first-round results, regardless of starting position in the bracket.
How Many Matches in a Random Bracket
For single elimination, the match count is always N − 1, no matter how you draw. Randomness only affects who plays whom.
