Points scheme: draws, shootouts, penalties and the volleyball system
“Three points for a win, one for a draw” does not suit everyone. Youth leagues play 2/1/0, a shootout win in hockey is worth less than a regulation win, and volleyball points depend on the set score. In HoneyCup the points scheme follows your tournament rules.

Your own scheme for goal sports
Football, futsal and water polo use the standard 3/1/0 by default, handball uses 2/1/0 under IHF rules, and hockey uses 3-2-1-0 under IIHF rules with overtime and shootouts. You can change it in the “Format and rules” panel: a 2/1/0 league only needs to adjust the points for a win. Set the scheme before the start: with the first result the format and scoring rules are locked, so the table never changes retroactively.

Overtime, shootouts and penalties
Turn on “Overtime and shootouts” (in football — penalty shootouts) and the match score has two parts: regulation time first, the shootout after a comma, for example “2:2, 4:3”. In the table such a match is marked with a letter.
- IIHF 3-2-1-0: regulation win — 3, overtime or shootout win — 2, overtime or shootout loss — 1;
- NHL / KHL 2-2-1-0: any win — 2, overtime or shootout loss — 1;
- custom values for any other regulations.

Volleyball: the FIVB system
In volleyball points depend on the set score, as in FIVB rules: a 3:0 or 3:1 win — 3 points, a 3:2 win — 2, a 2:3 loss — 1, a 0:3 or 1:3 loss — 0. Best-of-three matches follow the same rule: 2:0 — 3 points, 2:1 — 2. There is nothing to configure — HoneyCup applies it automatically when volleyball is selected.
Where it applies
The points scheme works wherever there is a table: round robin, group stage, the Champions League league phase and Swiss. Walkovers are handled correctly too: the winner gets the points for a win, the loser gets zero.
